Important Information:

Online
- Finding websites includes using search engines and entering keywords to find different websites. Search engines include Google, Yahoo, DogPile, and Bing.
- There are a lot of websites dedicated to the history of the Civil War. The key is to check the authority of the website. Find out who is running it or supporting it. Usually there is an "About Us" page. Make sure the publisher/creator/writer(s)/editor(s) know what they are talking about. Do they have an educational history on the topic? Have they written other works that are recognized by others? ALWAYS check your sources.
Indexes and Databases
- Choose databases that provide resources about your topic.
- Use keywords to search for resources. Boolean phrases can help you find more and different resources.
- When doing in-depth research, it's a good idea to look over abstracts to quickly eliminate resources that don't appear to be useful.
Visit Gettysburg
- At the Gettysburg National Military Park, they provide tours, guided maps, and an in-door museum with artifacts that includes the Gettysburg Cyclorama.
- There are monuments all throughout the park to commemorate the different locations of events and the regiments that were involved.
HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK!
